Power Logistics pumpkin competition

As we did not have the “Give Peas a Chance” challenge to enter this year, we decided to set our own challenge – to grow Pumpkins from seed in our work garden and have a Halloween party with whatever we produced!!

From small beginnings on our office windowsills grew some very impressive pumpkins.  We had our lunch on 27th October and the fayre included pumpkin cake, spooky pizza, puking pumpkin dip (urgh), roasted pumpkin seeds, pumpkin pie and many other homemade goodies.  A great time was had by all and we declared the winners of our Pumpkin Carving and Fancy Dress competitions!

It was a great way to involve as many staff as possible in the idea that you can grow vegetables, herbs, fruit and flowers in all sorts of places and produce delicious food at the end of the season, whilst creating a relaxing space to eat lunch.  The rest of our garden produced tomatoes, strawberrys, French beans, dwarf runner beans, spring onions, chillies, peppers, herbs, lots of mixed salad and cucumbers; all grown for staff to eat at lunchtime or take home.  We made the most of the Wiltshire sunshine and had some bumper crops this year.
