Power Logistics was awarded a three year contract to provide full project management for all site and show power for AEG’s British Summertime festival held in London’s Hyde Park. The 2015 festival took place across the last two weekends in June with Kylie Minogue, Blur, The Who and Taylor Swift all taking to the stage to perform to sell-out crowds.

With the majority of the equipment coming direct from Power Logistics’ own fleet, more than 50 generators, in a variety of sizes, from 30kva right up to 500kva were installed to power the festival. They also provided all the cabling and distribution for the event along with 26 towerlights.

In addition as part of the contract AEG Live asked Power Logistics to monitor power consumption and create a log across the main stage and four other key generator sites. Basically the log provides the site team with detailed information about power consumption and fuel usage in any areas that power is requested from them. Bars and catering concessions often specify their power requirements by connection sizes rather than their actual consumption.

In order to meet AEG Live’s requirements Power Logistics invested in specialist monitoring equipment which was fitted to the relevant generator sets. Having real-time information from this year’s event will ensure that AEG Live and Power Logistics have a much clearer picture of what is needed for the 2016 event.

AEG Live is keen to improve their green credentials and monitoring power consumption is a key element.
