Power Logistics provided a full project management service for all the show and site power at this year’s V Festival in Chelmsford. In order to fulfil the festival’s power requirements, Power Logistics provided and installed over 80 generators, in a range of sizes from 15kva to 550kva. The company also provided all the cabling and distribution for the event, including a specialist transformer for international artist Rihanna.
Having invested heavily in their power monitoring equipment, Power Logistics has been delivering real time data about power consumption to festival organisers and production teams for almost 18 months. Keen to see it for themselves the team at V Festival asked Power Logistics to carry out power monitoring at numerous areas around the festival site, including: the sound and lighting feeds on the Main Stage, artist catering and the fourth stage.
In addition to delivering electrical services, the company also provided lighting to 25 locations across the site, from towerlights, festoon lighting, architectural and creative lighting. Much of the lighting provided this year was low energy LEDs with Power Logistics purchasing new products to meet the brief.
This year, for the first time, Power Logistics provided festoon lighting for V Style, utilising brand new, low energy, near indestructible, light bulbs. Also new for V Style in 2016 was a pea-light canopy and architectural lighting again using newly purchased LED lights.
Power Logistics’ LED towerlights were also in action lighting up the Helipad used for when headliner Justin Beiber arrived.
Mike Whitehouse, managing director of Power Logistics said: “We noticed a real shift towards sustainable solutions at this year’s V Festival from the introduction of our power monitoring equipment to the sheer volume of low energy lighting we installed around the site, even the toilet blocks had LED lights this year. We’re conscious of how important it is to deliver sustainable solutions so we’re doing everything that we can to offer them to our clients.”
