Isle of Wight
Power Logistics is delighted to have worked with Bestival, the four-day music festival held at the Robin Hill country park on the Isle of Wight, for four years in succession.
It provided full project management and consultancy service for the festival’s show and arena power requirements. In addition, it supplied site and architectural lighting in the woods surrounding the main arena. This included all generators, distribution equipment, cabling, tower lights and festoon lighting required for the successful delivery of the event.
Power Logistics’ experienced team was onsite for almost 3 weeks before the event; siting and connecting generators, laying cabling and installing distribution equipment and lighting. During show days they ensured that they are on-hand to deal with any issues and additional feeds as required.
Logistically the project was challenging for the team as they had to co-ordinate the transportation of sixty generators, fuel bowsers, tower lights and all the additional kit required to fulfil a contract of this size to the Isle of Wight. All equipment and crew had to be ferried across the Solent at a time of year when ferries are still incredibly busy with tourists. There were numerous restrictions in place, with some of the kit having to be transported at weekends. All equipment was subject to rigorous paperwork checks before they are allowed to make the crossing.
The impressive 2016 line-up for award winning Bestival included, The Cure, Wiz Khalifor, Sean Paul, Fatboy Slim, Hot Chip, Major Lazer and Carl Cox.
